Ladies of the esteemed MGHS Old Girl’s Association UK Branch, I am Angela Blanshard, your newly elected President, filled with immense pride and enthusiasm. It is an honour to be entrusted with this role, thanks to your support and faith. This leadership opportunity marks the beginning of a collaborative journey, propelled by our shared visions and divine guidance.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. Your trust in me is a responsibility I embrace wholeheartedly. As your President, I am dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community within our association—a place where every voice is heard, and every member is motivated to engage.

Our mission is to cultivate an environment of active participation for all members. By nurturing this spirit of collaboration, we will ensure that our association thrives on the values of respect, collaboration, and unity.

As we embark on initiatives aimed at enriching our academic and extracurricular programs, promoting mental and physical well-being, and facilitating open dialogue, collaboration remains key. Working alongside partners, particularly the Freetown branch, will enhance our efforts and broaden our community’s impact.

Expanding Focus on MGHS

At the heart of our association’s endeavors lies MGHS, beckoning us to a noble mission. Our commitment to restoring the school’s historic excellence is unwavering, undertaken with determination and clear purpose. In close collaboration with Mrs. Martha Thorpe and the Freetown branch, we set forth on this journey, unified in our aim to reestablish MGHS as a beacon of educational excellence:

• Single-Shift System: Our objective to transition MGHS to a single-shift system is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the educational landscape, ensuring that students benefit from an optimal learning environment.
• Modernization of the Science Department: The modernization of the science department is pivotal, equipping it with the latest resources to spark innovation and curiosity among students.
• Revitalization of the IT Department: Updating the IT department is crucial for preparing our students for the challenges of the digital age, providing them with state-of-the-art technological tools and learning platforms.
• Promotion of Personal Hygiene and Excellence: We aim to distribute personal hygiene kits to students, promoting values of cleanliness and personal excellence that are foundational to success and self-respect.
• Encouraging Healthy Competition and Discipline: The reintroduction of Star buttons for academic achievements and black badges for discipline will motivate students towards excellence and adherence to high behavioral standards.
• Mentorship and School Engagement: Our involvement extends beyond material support. Engaging in school affairs and providing mentorship ensures that students are not only academically proficient but also well-rounded, prepared for life’s challenges.

Ladies, as we look forward to the work ahead, my heart is filled with optimism and a readiness to lead our association and MGHS towards a bright and prosperous future.
